Ingredients
-500 gms milk powder
-200 gms self-raising flour
-1 tbsp soda bicarbonate
-1 tsp cardamom powder
-50 gms butter
-Water, to make a soft dough
-Oil, for frying
For Syrup:
-2 cups sugar
-4 cups water
-5 cardamom pod
-2 tsp rose water
Method:
Mix together milk powder, self-raising flour, soda bicarbonate,cardamom powder and butter. Add water and make a soft dough. Keep aside.
For the sugar syrup, boil together sugar and water for some time. Add cardamom and boil some more. Add rose water for flavour.
Make small balls of the doughand deep-fry in oil on a very slow fire, until golden brown. Simmer these in the prepared sugar syrupuntil they double in size. Serve hot.
Tips:
-Instead of using normal flour, use self-raising flour.
-Once the dough is made, keep it out for 2 hours before moulding into balls. |
